Tom Cross Easily Wins Illinois Treasurer's Race

Illinois Republican Treasurer's Candidate Tom Cross breezed to a more than 100,000 vote victory over DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogan.  Cross ran a strong campaign that focused on reforming the finances of the State of Illinois.  He mostly kept his 'powder dry' during the primary and began to drive distinctions between his opponent (worst.campaign.ever) and himself.

He'll go on to face one of our favorites in November:  Democrat Mike "Earmuffs" Frerichs.

From the Chicago Tribune:
Cross, who declared victory at a downtown Chicago hotel among supporters and family, said Tuesday night by phone he believes his message about using the office to implore lawmakers not to spend more than the state has resonated with voters.
“We think the treasurer's office can be used in a more aggressive manner,” Cross said Tuesday night.
