Last week I returned to my alma mater for the Edgar Fellows Program at the University of Illinois’ Institute of Government and Public Affairs. It was an honor to have been selected as one of 40 emerging leaders from a highly competitive pool of statewide nominees for participation in this prestigious, bipartisan program.
The Edgar Fellows program focuses on developing leadership and governing capacity in Illinois while emphasizing the need to forthrightly address major policy issues without permitting partisan, ethnic and regional rivalries to trump statesmanship.
Together, my colleagues and I participated in an intense, four-day executive leadership training program hosted by former Governor Jim Edgar, and staffed by an impressive list of researchers and scholars from the public arena. It was truly an honor to have been selected, and the knowledge I gained will serve me well in my role as a legislator in the General Assembly.
Congrats, Representative Sandack! Can't wait to see what else you can do to right the ship that is the State of Illinois.
