That Sinking Feeling: The Mike Frerichs Campaign Story
The Titanic is a really neatly packaged metaphor for the Mike Frerichs for State Treasurer campaign.
Sure...Mike's campaign is flush with cash. Just like the Titanic was the most stately vessel that had ever set sail across the Atlantic.
But...due to their own fault (Mike Frerichs' continued mistakes and failure to even bother to pay his property taxes. And...the Titanic's problem of running right into an iceberg), they're both sinking.
The latest evidence? Democrats - in droves - are jumping off the Frerichs 'ship'. It's already run aground when Mike failed to pay his property taxes and was ensconced in an patronage scandal and railed against investing in Israel.
But...now? People are jumping left and right off the boat trying to save their lives from the Frerichs vortex. That's what appears after the ship goes down totally: it sucks everything down with it.
That's why Mayor Tom Weisner abandoned Mike Frerichs. And that's why former Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias 'stood tall' with Tom Cross and not his party's nominee: Tax Hike Mike.
